This list will give you the top 10 mods compatible with Civilization V Brave New World edition. So please, help me figure out how to fix this. There are numerous fun mods available for Civilization V, adding new content to the game and offering a fresh challenge for experienced players. I have not made any alterations to my computer either, software or hardware. Some of the changes come in the middle of the game, right as. I have not recently installed any DLC the I did not have before, and I have never installed any mods. Brave New World is the second expansion to 2010's Civilization V, and includes a suite of additions to help improve the game's pacing. As far as I know, there was no patch or anything that would cause it to no longer work. I obviously cannot play like this for much longer, so I am asking for some help on how to fix it. It's getting to the point where I have to save after every action. Sometimes this doesn't even work though as it will freeze before I can finish my turn. This is very annoying as it makes playing Civ more waiting than playing, as I have o wait for my computer to restart, and then I have to wait for Civ V to load to main menu, and then I have to wait for it to load up my game. The only was I can play at all is to save the game every turn, and then restart when it freezes. I'm lucky if I can take two turns without the game freezing. But it started to happen more and more, and now it's gotten to the point where I can barely play. At the beginning, it happened scarcely, so it wasn't really a problem, I just had to remember to save frequently. The only way for me to get out of it (and I have tried just waiting a while to see if it unfreezes) is to force shut down my computer. However, the game music continues to play. I can't interact with anything in the game, all the visuals are frozen, and no keyboard shortcuts works, such as force quitting. What happens, is it occasionally freezes, and there is nothing I can do. Can be used standalone and is the basis for many other mods. At a recent event in London we caught up with Civilization V's producer, Dennis Shirk, and found out a bit more about how incoming expansion - Brave New World - is going to impact the iconic strategy game. Contains bugfixes (also for multiplayer), performance improvements and many AI enhancements, but minimal gameplay changes. Contains the gamecore DLL, which is based on C++ code linked against the official Civ V SDK. That's from 2k staff. So I was running Civ V perfectly fine for a while, but then it started to freeze. The Community Patch (CP) is the base mod. I'm sure they'll fix the bugs eventually.Ĭonfig.ini (My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V) and set EnableGameCoreThreading = 0 apparently fixes some graphics issues, not done much for me. bugfix: new placement system for DLC Natural Wonders was crashing the mod when using vanilla civ5. One thing you could check, does your laptap run HD graphics integrated with cpu? Might try disabling it in bios (if you can) there's apparently some issues with that. I got a degree in Software Engineering and I can't figure out half the stupid bugs. I also remap my screenshot key, so it doesn't take a screeny everytime i press F12.Īnd being a certified windows tech. Read this Crash Wiki guide to find fix for Civ V Brave New World crash errors, freezes, bugs, and other game-breaking problems. Not really a biggy, the worst stuff is the weird graphics bugs that occur sometimes, if in single player I just quicksave and reload, ie F11, F12. I just delete those saves and start again. In an academic paper by a team of researchers from Soochow University, it is noted that oxalate esters are derived from the “.coupling reactions of oxalic acid or oxalic acid derivatives with alcohol” (Ma et al.). Oxalate esters, which make the chemiluminescence, are key in the creation of glow sticks, and are also formulated using chemical energy. The process utilizes a lot of chemical and heat energy, as peroxide is produced in large amounts at these plants. According to MIT News Office correspondent David Chandler, processing hydrogen peroxide takes place in “.large chemical plants, where methane, or natural gas, is used to provide a source of hydrogen, which is then reacted with oxygen in a catalytic process under high heat”. The raw material required to produce hydrogen peroxide are natural gases such as methane as well as oxygen. Some of the chemicals that create the luminescence of glow sticks are hydrogen peroxide and oxalate esters. The same goes for the automobiles that mine silica, which is needed to produce the glass which is also a part of the glow stick tubes. Each drilling rig, excavation machine, and truck or trailer involved in the process of drilling crude oil uses vast amounts of diesel, which takes a toll on the environment as a whole. Environmental survey technician Grace Smoot states that “One gallon of diesel weighs approximately 7 pounds, but when combusted it produces 22.38 pounds of CO2” (Smoot, 1). Diesel is considered to be a dirty fuel, due to its significantly large carbon footprint. Crude oil is harvested in large amounts due to the high demand for plastics in the industry overall, which suggests that the drilling rigs require refilling quite often. The Ipieca, a global nonprofit oil and gas industry association, states that “.these engines use 20–30m3 diesel fuel per day, depending on the operations performed” (“Offshore Drilling Rigs (2013)”). Crude oil is extracted using drilling rigs, which run on diesel, the world’s primary fuel source for transportation. Harvesting crude oil uses a lot of mechanical and chemical energy, due to the automobiles that drill it out, as well as the fuel that powers them. This oil is known as crude oil, which requires a considerable amount of energy to extract. According to This Is Plastics, a website dedicated to providing statistics about plastic usage, safety, and environmental impact, the main raw material that turns into synthetic plastics is oil, which is later refined into ethane and propane. To start off, the key component in keeping the luminescent fluid of a glow stick intact is plastic, which is what the tubing is made up of. The first phase in the life cycle of a glow stick is the raw materials phase, which consists of a rather environmentally taxing use of energy. The manufacturing, transportation and waste disposal processes in glow stick production use a very high amount of energy in its overall life cycle compared to during its utility, indicating that it causes a significant impact to the environment. As glow sticks are used in a wide variety of areas and for various different reasons, it is important to consider the environmental impact of these rather simple looking instruments. However, there is much more to them than the surface level luminescence they create, in terms of the energy it takes to process, deliver, and eventually, dispose of them at the end of their life cycle. Since they are known to be waterproof, and don’t require external power like a plug or batteries, they are considered to be energy efficient means of portable lighting. Glow sticks are rather versatile in their use, and are a convenient source of light in many different settings. Glow sticks are also used in military activity, as a way for troops to locate each other in dense forest regions, or to send each other non verbal signals while on a mission. Children often use them as bracelets on Halloween night, as they go trick or treating through the neighborhoods, as a way to locate each other, and even as an accessory to their costumes. They are often seen at concerts, or parties, where people wave them around in the air to create an electric atmosphere, as they sing along to their favorite artist’s songs. Glow sticks are a popular light-up accessory used to bring a little bit of color and energy to a party environment. Embodied Energy in the Glow Stick Life Cycle Think like a historian or a journalist and include the who, what, where, when, why and any other key information that you think you may need in the future. It's good practice to get into the habit of filling out metadata on all your images as soon as possible. When a client asks you for an image, they also want a lot of hard information about what's in it. I'm here to say, outside of a few cases, this advice is bull****. If you talk to some professionals, they may tell you that a photo must be able to stand on its own and it's a poor photo that needs a caption to tell you the story. The more metadata you add, the easier you'll make it for your future self to double-check information about images. If your camera allows for it, also set up location and copyright info. Metadata is kingĪt a bare minimum, set the date in your camera before using it. Not only was I able to quickly find the images, but with an organized approach to file archiving, I also knew exactly where to look for the high-resolution versions of the files that they needed. They were able to pick out something they liked and I was able to make their deadline. At this point I had shot the assignment nearly a decade ago, but thanks to being organized I was able to get a contact sheet to the editor quickly for an edit. An editor working on a story about Riordan and plans for a new Percy Jackson TV series for Disney+ was curious if I had any outtakes. I had shot the assignment nearly a decade ago, but thanks to being organized I was able to get a contact sheet to the editor quickly for an edit. Thanks to my careful archiving of my work, over the years I have been able to make multiple sales to other publications of this work. Only two of my images got published at the time of the job, but I had also made dozens of portraits and documentary images that ended up as outtakes. I had been on assignment for the UK Guardian to spend the day with Riordan upon the eve of the first movie release of the Percy Jackson series. If I don't know where my stuff is I'm in trouble.Ī few months ago I was contacted by a London-based magazine that wished to license a portrait I had created years earlier of Rick Riordan at his home. I'm lucky if I have until the morning usually it's a matter of minutes, not days. On more than one occasion I've gotten a call from someone looking to license one of my images on deadline. When I started out, Lightroom and Capture One weren't on the scene, so in the absence of 'libraries' I came up with my own system. The software helps me quickly edit, enter metadata, color-code, organize and move files to editors and clients. I've been using Photo Mechanic since about 2004. I learned these lessons from my experiences in the professional space, where my income depended on assignment work, archival sales and the ability to be quickly responsive to editors and clients when they call. To fix this, you will need to run DayZ as an administrator so that it is able to access the components it needs. There’s a possibility that DayZ will crash frequently if it is unable to access certain Windows components.
Find which one sounds the best for the matter at hand, and set up there for the actual session. EVEN THE MIC SAID SO ::One Hand Clapping is an incredibly unique 2D puzzle platformer that invites you to sin. If you have the luxury of time, try a few places in the room for test recording. Yep, this is definitely not my kind of game. All of this will give you good information. Vocalize a big “ooh” from the top of your range to the bottom to ferret out any weird room resonances. Hiss like a snake to judge how bright and harsh the room is going to be. If you’re in an unfamiliar room, walk around while clapping your hands to listen for flutter echoes. Proper room treatment can also help your recordings (more on that in our room treatment tutorial). to employ a single channel image with composechannels, a bit like the sound of one hand clapping. It’s about knowing what you’re working with and reacting accordingly. - Under the Levels tab, you can increase the boost slider to increase the gain of your microphone. Yet in the same terrible room, a highly-insensitive dynamic mic right up on the sound source might give you everything you need without much trouble. But if the room sounds terrible, such precision will only net you a precisely terrible sound. Sure, you could bring out a fancy laser to measure the angles of all your mics for phase coherence. The room is the most important consideration in mic placement. The opposite is true as well: if the song requires a thumpy kick-one without clicky distinction-this changes where I’d put the mics. The extent to which I’d mitigate brightness would only be to shave out the harshest frequencies. If the song demands a bright guitar part, I shouldn’t try to undercut the brightness in my mic selection or mic placement. Encouraging you to use your voice with an equipped mic, you’ll casually sing, talk, or even tap the mic, if feeling shy, to manipulate the environment. This also extends to placement, as I might place a mic closer to an innately brighter voice than I would if the voice were warm. One Hand Clapping Early Access is unlike any other game out there. So, I like to think in terms of what the source is giving me and react accordingly: if the singer is bright, I’m going to think about which mics I have that complement their brightness. This makes every situation involving mic'ing an instrument unique. You also have to consider many variables when figuring out where to put up the mics. Technical knowledge only gets you so far. The original Japanese version of the game had the ghosts named "Oikake", "Machibuse", "Kimagure" and "Otoboke", translating respectively to "chaser", "ambusher", "fickle" and "stupid". After being present with a 40-to-0 result in favor of multicolored ghosts, Nakamura agreed to the decision. Although he was admittedly afraid of Nakamura, he conducted a survey with his colleagues that asked if they wanted single-colored enemies or multicolored enemies. Originally, all four of the ghosts were meant to be red instead of multicolored, as ordered by Namco president Masaya Nakamura - Iwatani was against the idea, as he wanted the ghosts to be distinguishable from one another. To prevent the game from becoming impossibly difficult or too boring to play, each of the ghosts were programmed to have their own distinct traits - the red ghost would directly chase Pac-Man, the pink and blue ghosts would position themselves in front of him, and the orange ghost would be random. Their simplistic design was also attributed to the limitations of the hardware at the time, only being able to display a certain amount of colors for a sprite. Iwatani cited Casper the Friendly Ghost or Little Ghost Q-Taro as inspiration for the ghosts. In turn, he made the in-game characters cute and colorful, a trait borrowed from Iwatani's previous game Cutie Q (1979), which featured similar "kawaii" characters. The idea for the ghosts was made from Iwatani's desire to create a video game that could attract women and younger players, particularly couples, at a time where most video games were "war"-type games or Space Invaders clones. The ghosts were created by Toru Iwatani, who was the head designer for the original Pac-Man arcade game. The group has since gained a positive reception and is cited as one of the most recognizable video game villains of all time. Pac-Man, and Funky and Spunky in Pac-Mania however, these did not appear in later games. Some entries in the series went on to add other ghosts to the group, such as Sue in Ms. The ghosts have appeared in every Pac-Man game since, sometimes becoming minor antagonists or allies to Pac-Man, such as in Pac-Man World and the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures animated series. Created by Toru Iwatani, they first appear in the 1980 arcade game Pac-Man as the main antagonists. Orion Acaba ( Ghostly Adventures games) īlinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, collectively known as the Ghost Gang, are a quartet of characters from the Pac-Man video game franchise. Brian Drummond ( Ghostly Adventures cartoon) The player does not gain access to CO Powers until late in the campaign, leaving them to utilize the new "CO Zone" instead. In their place are Rubinelle's 12th Battalion, Lazuria, the New Rubinelle Army, and Intelligent Defense Systems.ĬO Powers have lost much of their significance, and no longer have the ability to alter the flow of battle. Consequently, the familiar Commanding Officers hailing from those nations do not make an appearance either. The previously-known nations of Wars World - Orange Star, Blue Moon, Green Earth, Yellow Comet, and Black Hole - are not present. While Days of Ruin shares the Advance Wars title, there is very little similarity to promote the connection. The warring factions take turns building their forces and sending their units into the fray, where conditions like Fog of War and the various weather patterns may help or hinder the player's progress.Ĭhanges from previous Advance Wars titles There are two methods to reach this goal - either eliminate every enemy unit, or capture the enemy headquarters. Like the other Advance Wars games, the main objective for each mission is to defeat all enemy forces. For the first time since the meteors hit, the sun is finally seen rising above the hills nearby. A year later, the village of New Hope, founded by the 12th Battalion after the war, blossoms in the new age of peace. He is killed here when the building is destroyed, putting an end to the war. Lin and the rest of Brenner's Wolves eventually chase Caulder to his fortress and laboratory, The Nest. This included intentionally creating a biological threat, a disease known as the Creeper, merely to study the victim's reactions. The leader of IDS, Caulder, used the global state of anarchy to conduct biological and psychological experiments that he could not do normally. Soon after, the 12th Battalion is suddenly attacked by Intelligent Defense Systems, a military contractor that had secretly supplied weapons first to the Lazurians, then to the New Rubinelle Army. In the aftermath, Lin searches for Greyfield, and shoots him dead, avenging her fallen friend. Later on, Lin leads the group to prevent the launch of a wave of Caulder missiles, defeating the NRA for good. Greyfield, enraged at the events, uses a new weapon to obliterate the entire city, killing Brenner and the NRA troops looking for him. The Wolves make their escape, but Brenner hides out in an abandoned city to buy them some time. However, Brenner cannot accept the ruthless execution of Forsythe, the Lazurian commander, and leads his group to break the Lazurian prisoners out of an NRA camp. Brenner reluctantly allies the group with Greyfield, the NRA's leader, and eventually defeats the Lazurians at Fort Lazuria. Will takes to calling her Isabella, and she helps the group toward their goal.Ī year after the meteors hit, Brenner's Wolves encounters the New Rubinelle Army, and learns of the war between the NRA and the Lazurian Army. She cannot remember her own name, but has knowledge of detailed military information. During a mission, Will finds a girl with amnesia in a ruined building. The group aims to rescue as many survivors as they can from the twisted wastelands. Before his band of raiders can attack, Will is rescued by Brenner and Lin, who lead Rubinelle's 12th Battalion (known as "Brenner's Wolves"). Will, a young cadet from Rubinelle's military academy, is able to escape the ruins of the academy's mess hall and encounters The Beast, a former Rubinelle sergeant gone rogue. The meteor strikes have annihilated much of the two warring nations, Rubinelle and Lazuria. Survivors across the globe pick through the ruins and wreckage, while the surviving remnants of military superpowers rove the wastelands - some factions aiming to aid the innocent, while others hunt them like wolves. These strikes have left much of civilization destroyed, and have stirred up an enormous dust cloud into the atmosphere, blotting out the sun. With everyone distracted by war, a shadowy faction uses the destruction to further its own agenda.Īlmost 90% of humanity has been wiped out by a cluster of catastrophic meteor showers. To make matters worse, an incurable disease runs rampant throughout both nations. In the aftermath, the 12th Battalion, also known as Brenner's Wolves, attempts to aid all survivors they encounter, despite the fact that the two battered nations have returned to war. Rubinelle and its rival nation, Lazuria, have been fighting a century-long war, but were interrupted when a global meteor shower bombarded the planet. Set in a somber, post-apocalyptic world, the game follows Rubinelle's 12th Battalion, a remnant of the country's military. 3.1 Changes from previous Advance Wars titles. Paperless options also extend to the AP/AR department. When possible, they can recycle these paper copies. Where signatures are required, many companies opt for fillable PDFs and e-signatures.Ĭompanies that work with external vendors or partners who rely on paper for their business processes might use in-house methods, such as scanning, to digitize this information. Employees can bring devices to meetings to take notes digitally. Companies might also communicate using mobile devices and cloud-based programs or internal platforms. Memos might be sent via email or through a work portal. Paperless offices often use digital means to correspond internally and externally. Moving to a digital or cloud format will help you find the documentation you need in a fraction of the time. More time is wasted searching for paper files than creating them. Taking steps to diminish the amount of paper you’re using means that you’ll have less clutter to contend with. Working in a clean, pleasant, organized home office will improve your productivity and mood. This will allow you to create a better workstation and improve the look of your home office. In a home office, space is often limited. Digitizing your files and using other measures to cut down on paper means that you can free up space that would need to be used for file cabinets and storage. Cutting down on the amount of paper you use will save money. In fact, ink cartridges and paper are often some of the highest home office expenses. Paper, ink, and various printing supplies cost money. If each person in the United States committed to recycle and reduce their paper usage, it would make a marked difference in deforestation and decrease the refuse we add to landfills. Even if you haven’t been exceptionally invested in improving the environment, cutting down on paper is an uncomplicated step you can take that will also benefit you personally. There are a lot of ways to organize your life through your phone and other devices that save you time and replace the old-fashioned method of handwriting all of your events and to-do lists on a calendar or day planner. Keeping important legal papers digitized means that you can store and back them up so that you never have to worry about losing them in the event of a disaster. You can add email and phone reminders to your digital calendar and set reminders so that you don’t miss appointments. You can cut down on a lot of this by switching to email or digital billing and requesting email or phone communication from schools and other entities your family is involved with. Think of all the bills, flyers, notes from school, and miscellaneous paper that comes into your house. The odds are good that a lot of your paper documents aren’t necessary. You may have file cabinets and boxes for old tax returns and any number of paper documents. Unless you’re very organized, it’s likely you have papers stacked up in different places. Even if you can’t realize a fully paperless home right away, there are steps you can take to minimize paper consumption today. There are aspects of your home life that may be more difficult to eradicate paper from entirely. If you have school-aged children, they may need to use paper for their schoolwork, though even some schools are moving away from paper by using laptops in class and having students turn in assignments via online portals. Have you ever thought about working toward a paperless home? Many people are familiar with the idea of a paperless work environment. Once you have a full assessment of your paper usage, you can create a strategy to eliminate processes that rely on paper. You will likely notice a lot of paper that can be eliminated, even if you think your office is leaning toward a paperless office concept. The first step is assessing the way that your company currently works, from top to bottom. It might also be important to invest in new technologies to make your switch to digital more organized. You’ll increase the security of your documentation and have better access to useful data that can improve your operations.Ĭreating a paperless environment will mean committing to change the processes you currently use. You’ll save time creating and organizing files. You can save space and streamline your workflow. You can get rid of some of the equipment your business currently uses. You’ll spend less on paper and printing supplies. There is a major payoff, however, in committing to a paperless environment.
